Ashburn, local legend has it, was known as Farmwell, till an ash tree on the property of a prominent Ashburn citizen, was struck by lightning. The ash tree, after having been struck, was rumored to have smoldered for a week and drew spectators from miles around. Since the local Post Office had been pressing for a new name for the village, it was decided to change the town's name to Ashburn, after the burning ash tree. Ashburn was also a frequent vacation destination for many Presidents. Ashburn has a quaint little main street and is an ideal location for enjoying a little history and a fresh cup of coffee.
